Sorry!

Do not worry! I was reading you guys but I have my mustang that is very sick rite now, he has heaves really bad. I can not ride him for a while. So I guess I did not have much to say.

Plus the weather here is way too hot to do anything!!!

How you guys are doing?

I will be away for the next 3 weeks.

thank you guys!

I am sorry your mustang is not feeling well. My mustang is from Wyoming. Where is yours from and how long have you had him?

Kynagirl, I'm sorry to hear about your mustang. Isn't heaves the horse equivalent of an asthma attack? It's an allergic reaction, isn't it? I hope he gets better real soon. Hang in there. We miss you.

Hi IndyandLynda!

My mustang is from Suffield Alberta Canada. I have sent the picture to this forum, maybe in couple days you will be able to see him. I have to warn you that he is fat little fellow. He is doing good since he had the heaves. I had to inject him some meds (3 times!!!), (I never did give injections before...) do you have plans for you fellow? what are you guys doing together? For myself, I have to admit he is too much of a horse for me. He is SO sensitive, and because of my stupid fears well he seems to make sure that I do not lose that fear!!! cause, he runs with me....on the ground he is a perfect little gent. He is trying hard to understand what I want from him. I am very confident on the ground, but once on that saddle, my guts want to speal out...

Yes Dixiemom, it is like for us human having astma. He had a hard time breading, not a pretty site.

Now, I am on vacation, and I still CAN'T put my goddam butt in the saddle! CRAP!!!!! excuse my french...

I am not even working with my 4 yr old rite now. He is due to be broken, mind you I do not want to send him away to be broken, to scared that they will get him all crapped out...so! I am very a stuck mom of 5 horses that do not ride them... shame on me I supposed.

Hi,I am glad your guy is feeling better now. Is the picture available now? I hope to trail ride Indy. Indy has had to put up with all the issues I had from other horses. I wish he had been the first horse for me. He is a lot of horse, but I have had help training him and my trainer keeps him safe for me to ride. Since Indy is used to an expert and experienced rider, I have had to learn to ride much better than I was when I got him. We have not ridden off the stable property yet, but I have hand walked him. I adopted him in Phoenix when he was 6 months old and he just turned five years old last month. Although he has never had breathing problems, we have had injuries to his legs. He is good now and I hope to continue our progress. Do you think that mustangs include us as their herd easier than other horses? I know Indy knows me very well and I cannot get away with anything.

HI IndiandLynda,

I know that I had to change my way with my mustang Diego on a few things compare to my other horses. He is very particular with the way I approched him. I have to "ask" permission to approch him, ie; stay out of his bubble until he gives me his head, or looking at me, saying ok you can come. I can not walk directly to him, but I sure learned alot with him. That thought me that I was not "polite" with my other horses. I now let the horse come to me, let him/her smell my hand then I can go on. If the horse on that day do not want to say hi, well I go with no fuss to an other horse. But they very rarely do it. They (I have 5 horses altogher) usually greet me at the gate.

What do you mean by you can't get away with nothing?

I got Diego he was already an adult, so I do not know how well or bad he was treated. I do have two horses that I have raised from the tender age of 6 months old. They are so different from him! they could care less if I put a tarp on them, or spray them etc. Diego! he is gone just as quick as his little legs can bring him!

I have problem on the saddle with him, he runs away with me. That is where my problem is, can not blame him, I am just a mess up there, and he does pick up on that. On the ground he is just a perfect gentlemen, he will follow me in the round pen, we seem to get along just fine, I can touch his ears now with out having him running away like if I had hurt him or something. He is no longer running away from me when I need to pick him up, will stand still (no halter)to be brush, althought he doesn't like it. He is the only one that nickers at me to say hi (or maybe where is my food!!)

Because I had a few good falls, I do not feel secure anymore. I always wait for him to spook or for him to find a reason to. I know what I am suppose to do, but up there everything gets to me. I have been working on this confidence thing for so long! I do not enjoy riding anylonger. I use to go to lessons 2-3 times per week with an awsome teacher, but Diego found an opportunity to run away with me and I ended up in the metal gate, thank God I had an helmet!! I torned a ligaments in my shoulder. I have other accidents that to this day, gives me grives. I am also a mother, I work (aren"t we all!) so it seems that I am even more scare for all those reasons. I do not want to get handicap or die.

But! I can not sell my horses. They are familly, they are the reasons why I get outside every day, I am so much of a better person because of them, more patience etc.

Yes very expensive pets indeed!

oh well I suppose!

sorry again for my writing, that just the french in me!!!
